Practice.

Silent Running is an ongoing contemporary visual art practice exploring what it means to be human within systems larger than ourselves.

Rather than telling stories directly, the work establishes conditions. Through contemporary drawing, printmaking, mixed media, and image-making, recurring symbolic worlds emerge where architecture, landscape, and the solitary figure become ways of exploring consciousness, responsibility, transformation, and our relationship to the environments we inherit.

At the origin of the practice, instinctive drawings emerged through accumulation and repetition, open, unsettled forms that gradually shifted into more held structures. Origin continues as an evolving field tracing the development of this visual language, while Signal develops alongside it as a distinct body of image-based work. Early System isolates selected framed works drawn from the wider field, while Current Field presents the practice in its present state through recent work and developing series.

Developed through a hybrid process combining analogue mark-making, print processes, and digital composition, the practice moves fluidly between drawing, illustration, printmaking, and visual development for moving image.

Working across pencil, Sharpie, charcoal, gouache, screen printing, gel plate, and iPad, Silent Running brings together material exploration with refined visual control.

Alongside these evolving bodies of work, Language System explores the practice through fragments of writing and visual thinking, while Mile High Cathedral develops an imagined world of symbolic architecture that also forms the foundation of an ongoing animated film.

Silent Running is conceived as an expanding body of interconnected work. Each project explores a different part of the same visual language, returning to recurring patterns of systems, thresholds, responsibility, sacrifice, and transformation.

The work shown here represents selected material from an ongoing and evolving visual art practice.
